Abstract

The danger of this virus has forced the government to implement various regulations to reduce the level of spread and infection, one of which is by staying at home. Staying at home and staying away from socialization that is usually done makes individuals get various mental problems which of course have an impact on the human condition itself, so it is important for individuals to still have mental toughness. In this study, the authors wanted to examine the effect of implementing COVID-19 gymnastics that had been made previously on mental toughness in adults people in Indonesia. The experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. COVID-19 gymnastics for 6 weeks was given to 150 subjects by professional gymnastics instructors. Before and after being given treatment, the subject filled out the Mental Toughness Inventory (MTI) which was prepared beforehand to obtain data, after which data analysis was carried out using SPSS Version 24. The results showed that there was a significant effect of COVID-19 gymnastics on increasing mental toughness in adults people in Indonesia. In addition, the COVID-19 gymnastics was proven to be effective in providing an increase in results between the pretest and the posttest by 3.6%. This study concludes that the application of COVID-19 gymnastics has a positive effect on mental toughness in adults people in Indonesia, so it can be an alternative activity to avoid various mental health problems, especially during a pandemic like this. The author suggests that every individual remains active in exercising even in situations and conditions that are full of limitations, one of which can be done by doing COVID-19 gymnastics.

Abstract

Physical literacy must be instilled in early childhood education, and teachers have a crucial role in this. The aim of this study is to reveal early childhood education teachers' physical literacy perceptions in terms of demographic information. The survey research was conducted with a population of 74 teachers in West Java with convenience sampling. The Perceived Physical literacy Instrument (PPLI) was used as an instrument to measure it. This instrument was distributed through a Google form and filled out voluntarily by the participants. The analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis. The results of this study reveal that teachers with a younger age, teaching experience of 11–20 years, coming from bachelor's degree graduates, and teaching in urban areas have a high perception of physical literacy compared to the demographic status of other teachers. There is a need for special education and training programs for early childhood education teachers in designing learning scenes that are adapted to the concept of physical literacy and are able to harmonize it according to the level of growth and development of children, so that teachers can be formed from an early age. The unrepresentative sample in this study is a limitation that can be used as a recommendation for further research to reveal the perceptions of early childhood education teachers on physical literacy in Indonesia.

Abstract

In developing the game of pétanque, it is necessary to master good basic techniques because this is the initial capital of an athlete to develop his game. Good mastery of basic techniques can also improve performance optimally. The purpose of this study was to analyze the accuracy of petanque pointing in a standing position at Atlas City Petanque Club (ACPC) athletes in Semarang City. The type of this study is descriptive-quantitative. The sample of this study was 8 athletes of ACPC club in Semarang city consisting one female and seven male athletes. Inclusion criteria in this study was having experience at national or international levels competitions and having trained for at least 6 months. All sample also sign the inform consent as a agreement to participate the research until the end. The results of this study indicate that the analysis of the pointing accuracy in standing position by ACPC club athletes in Semarang City is in the Precise Category, with an average distance of the ball to a target was 0.14 meters. Pointing in a standing position is very effective for a distance of 9 meters due to the ideal body position with a long throw distance from the target. The limitation of this study only focuses on the throwing distance produced by each athlete, so it has not been able to analyze every value generated from each athlete’s throws. Further, research can analyze the backspin technique of pointing in a standing position to complement the current research data.

Abstract

Sports coaches hold integral roles in sports organizations. As important figures for athletes, coaches are responsible for maintaining athletes’ motivation which will drive their performances in matches. To motivate athletes, coaches must possess good competence which reflect their quality as coaches. This study analyzes the effect of coach competency on athlete motivation. Coach competency in this study is represented by four indicators: motivation competency, game-strategy competency, technique competency, and character-building competency. Each and every indicator’s effect on athlete motivation was investigated. The instrument in this study used a questionnaire with 42 question items. This study is an explanatory research conducted on 114 student basketball athletes in Indonesia as respondents. Data analysis was conducted using SEM-PLS on the WARP-PLS 7 software. The results of this research show that overall, motivation competency, technique competency, character building competency, and game-strategy competency which represents the coach competency variable have a positive effect on athlete motivation (p<0.05), while motivation competency has no effect on athlete motivation (p>0.05). Game strategy competency, technique competency, and character building competency has positive effects on athlete motivation (p<0.05). This research contributes to increasing scientific knowledge among coaches and athletes about the importance of competence for the motivational aspect. The limitation in this study is that the sample used only comes from basketball athletes so it is not yet known whether there is a similar relationship between the competence and motivation of other sports coaches. Therefore, future research can examine the relationship between the competence and motivation of coaches in sports such as football, volleyball, and handball.

Abstract

The low level of self-directed learning among students is a problem in this study and the limited research on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics-based Self-Regulated Learning in physical education is a gap in this research. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) based on Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) is an alternative learning model in Physical Education. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of application Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics based Self-Regulated Learning to develop self-directed learning. This study used quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design and sampling used purposive sampling technique. The participants in this study were students VIII grade. Research was conducted in SMP Laboratorium School UPI with online learning and Limited Face-to-Face Meeting. The instruments of this study used the Self-Rating Scale of Self Directed Learning (SRSSDL). After the sample had completed the treatment, the results of data analysis showed that directed learning aspect was 0.027 with the criterion value (Sig.) = 0.05. Regardless of the results, this is supported by empirical evidence from student behavior, learning, and task making. They showed the development of students' abilities in the learning process did not depend on teachers, friends, class conditions and others. It can be concluded that implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) based on Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) has an effect on develop self-directed learning. This research contributes to learning innovation in physical education, so that teachers can apply this model on an ongoing basis to develop self-directed students. Future research needs to be done, for example trying to apply this model to develop other potentials in students such as motivation, cooperation, or responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of community sports development policies in the context of the "development through sport" paradigm. National development through sports in accordance with the mandate of the Sports Law can be started through community sports which are the basis for the goals of developing the sport itself. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This research was conducted in West Java Province using a purposive sampling technique referring to the high sports achievements achieved at the National Sports Week, but it is still low in the sports development index. Interviews, documentation studies, and observations were carried out in the data collection process. To analyze the data collected, we devised seven indicators that are based on the essence of the sports law of the community sports section. The results of this study found that the implementation of the community sports development policy that was implemented was close to conformity with what was stated in the sports law. However, there are still inequalities in some aspects. This happens because there is still a lack of understanding from the government as policy makers, as well as the community as a group affected by the implementation of policies of the importance of sport as an instrument of national development. Therefore, sports policy makers must act immediately in providing solutions to evaluate policies that will be implemented in the future.
